What we do

At Eclipse Running, it is our goal to help you the individual, and that means we are here to find the best shoe for you.
Here at Eclipse Running, we are not simply interested in selling you a pair of shoes, but we are interested in finding the best possible choice in footwear, clothing, accessories, and nutrition for your goals.
Everyone in the Eclipse Crew is an experienced runner, which means we all know how important it is to find the right equipment for you.
Let's get acquainted

We want to get to know you. This means, we want to know what your goals are. Are you training for something in particular? Are you just wanting a good shoe to use while you get in shape? How much do you run? How far?
We also want to know your history. Have you been a runner for a long time or are you a first time runner? What kind of footwear are you currently using? What does does the wear pattern look? Do you have any history of injury?

Foot analysis

We want to know what your gait looks like when you are running. Everybody's feet react differently with the ground as you run, so it is important that we find which shoe will best accommodate you. What shoe may work for someone else, may not necessarily be the best for you. It is all about you and your individual biomechanics.
Typically we will look at your feet while you are full weight bearing (standing up with all your weight on your feet). What your arch and ankles look like will give us good indicators as to what type of shoe you will need. Sometimes, we will also have you walk for us so that we can see your gait in motion.

Sizing

Runners wear really big shoes. Well, actually, runners wear shoes that are big enough to accommodate the amount of room your foot will take up as it swells. The more time you spend on your feet, the more your feet swell. Most runners size up anywhere from 0.5 to 2 full sizes in a running shoe.
We like to use the "rule of thumb" to determine sizing. This means that the space between the front of your foot and the front of the shoe should have the width of a thumb in between.

Your Shoes

After we have gathered enough information, we bring out the shoes we think will work best for you. Especially for first time runners, we recommend trying on at least three different shoes.
There is no one right shoe for anyone, rather, there are usually several shoes that would be good choices. Between trying on different shoes and discussion, we can find the right shoe for you.
